Terms of use

Your account

You are responsible for using your own account and authentication methods, keeping access secure, and providing accurate information when using account, support, or billing functions. Do not attempt to access another member's data or privileges.

Chess analysis and coaching

Engine evaluations, AI-generated explanations, suggested candidate moves, training recommendations, and coaching comments are informational tools. They can be incomplete or wrong and are intended for your review and chess improvement, not as a guarantee of playing strength, rating improvement, tournament results, or any specific outcome.

Free and Pro access

Features and limits differ between Free and Pro and are described on the current Pricing page. Paid AI-backed product features are currently restricted to eligible Pro access. Bookiji may update product features, usage limits, or plan packaging; material subscription changes should be reflected in the product and pricing information before they apply to new purchases.

Subscriptions and billing

Pro Monthly and Pro Annual are recurring subscriptions processed by Stripe. Before purchase, Stripe Checkout presents the selected plan, billing interval, amount due, and recurring authorization. A subscription continues at the selected interval until it is cancelled or otherwise ends under the applicable Stripe status. From Account, click Manage Billing to open the Stripe customer portal. If cancellation is scheduled at period end, Account may show the date through which access is expected to continue, subject to the actual subscription status and applicable law. When Stripe reports a failed renewal payment, the service updates entitlement status from the subscription record; Pro access generally continues only while the subscription remains active or trialing and through any paid-through period reflected in the billing record. For billing errors or exceptional refund requests, contact Support for review; this is not a promise of a refund policy. Nothing in these terms limits rights or remedies that cannot legally be excluded under applicable consumer law.

Eligible Pro subscribers may also purchase optional prepaid compute top-ups through Stripe one-time Checkout when that option is offered. The included monthly Pro compute allowance is always consumed first. Purchased compute is metered server-side, does not reset monthly, and is consumed only after the included allowance for the current period is exhausted. Purchased balance may remain on the account when a subscription ends and becomes available again only when Pro access is active again. The quantity of compute credited per purchase and the price charged are determined by the server and Stripe Checkout, not by amounts submitted from the browser.

MyChessCoach is provided on an as-available basis. We do not promise uninterrupted, timely, secure, or error-free operation. Engine evaluations, AI-generated output, training recommendations, and support answers may be incomplete, inaccurate, or unavailable. They are informational tools, not professional advice and not a guarantee of Elo gain, rating gain, tournament performance, or improvement within any particular timeframe. Chess.com, Lichess, Stripe, AI providers, hosting providers, and other third-party services may change, restrict, or interrupt their services.

Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Bookiji is not responsible for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive loss, loss of data or opportunity, service interruption, third-party integration failure, or reliance on engine or AI output. This section applies only to the extent permitted by law. Nothing limits liability, consumer rights, or remedies that cannot legally be limited or excluded. Any commercial liability cap must be determined with appropriate legal review and is not stated here.

Suspension and termination

Bookiji may limit or suspend access to an account, billing, AI, analysis, import, or support functionality when reasonably necessary for fraud prevention, abuse, security, service reliability, provider failure, legal compliance, or a violation of these terms. Termination does not erase payment obligations that already arose. After termination, data is handled under the Privacy notice and applicable retention and deletion requirements.

Intellectual property and your data

Bookiji retains its rights in MyChessCoach software, interface, brand, documentation, original content, training structures, and proprietary product logic. You retain the rights you already hold in PGNs, imported game records, comments, profile information, and other content you submit. You grant Bookiji the limited, non-exclusive licence needed to store, process, analyze, transform, display, transmit to authorized processors, and otherwise use that content to provide, secure, and improve the requested service. This does not transfer ownership of material originating from Chess.com, Lichess, or another third party.

Connected chess services

If you connect or import from services such as Chess.com or Lichess, you are responsible for using those services in accordance with their rules and for having authority to provide the imported data. Availability of third-party integrations can change when those providers change or restrict their services. MyChessCoach also depends on infrastructure and service providers for hosting, authentication, database storage, payment processing, email delivery, error monitoring, and configured AI or support systems when those features are used. Those providers process data only as needed to operate the requested feature and may change over time.

Age and minors

If you are under the age at which you can independently enter this kind of agreement where you live, use MyChessCoach only with the involvement and permission of a parent or guardian where required. Nothing in these terms is intended to waive protections that apply to minors or consumers.

Acceptable use

• Do not probe, bypass, or defeat authentication, entitlement, rate-limit, security, or tenant-isolation controls.
• Do not use MyChessCoach to access, expose, or interfere with another user's data.
• Do not abuse AI, analysis, support, import, or billing endpoints through automated or excessive traffic.
• Do not upload content you do not have the right to use.

Service availability

We work to keep MyChessCoach available and reliable, but uninterrupted operation is not guaranteed. Features may be changed, suspended, or repaired when required for security, reliability, legal compliance, provider availability, or product maintenance.

Privacy

The Privacy notice explains the main categories of data processed to operate MyChessCoach and when third-party service providers may be involved.

Support

Questions about these terms, billing, accounts, privacy, or service problems can be submitted through the Support page or Help Center.

Changes and general terms

We may update these terms prospectively. We will identify the effective date and, where appropriate, provide notice of material changes. Continued use after an effective date is not a waiver of rights that require fresh consent. If a provision is unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in effect to the extent permitted by law. A failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver. These terms do not create a partnership, employment, or agency relationship. Events outside reasonable control may affect service availability. Provisions that by their nature should survive termination continue to do so.

Quebec law and applicable Canadian law may apply, subject to mandatory consumer protections and any jurisdictional rights that cannot be waived.
